There are a few things that make YouTube Song Downloader different – in a good way – from the endless list of YouTube downloaders available. First, its attractive and intuitive interface, both colorful and easy to navigate. Second, its “Album Search” feature, and third, its support for some of the most popular video and audio formats. These, and a couple of other excellent features, make this tool probably the most user-friendly YouTube downloader available.
You can search for YouTube videos using the same key words that you would use at the YouTube site. All the videos found will then be listed with their thumbnails and the length of the video. Check those you’re interested in and then choose among three options – download the video, download the audio, or both. This is the first time I come across such an extremely useful feature in a YouTube download tool. The extraordinary thing is not that the program can download the entire video or just the audio stream separately (most good YouTube downloders can do that), but the fact that it can do both with just one click. How’s that for user friendliness?
The program’s ability to search for all the individual tracks of your favorite albums is another great addition. You just need to make your search in the “Album Search” section instead and wait for YouTube Song Downloader to do the hard work for you. It will show you a list of all the albums that met your search criteria (if more than one entry exist), and if you click on any of them, another list will display all the tracks belonging to that particular album that the program could find in YouTube. You can then select those tracks you’re interested in (or all of them) and choose any of the three download options mentioned above. This is what I meant by "user-friendly".
Regardless of the number of videos selected and of whatever download options you checked, the download process itself will surprise you with its speed. The list of supported output formats may not be the longest of its kind, but it covers the most common codecs that you will find in YouTube – FLV, AVI, and MP4 for the video, and MP3 and Ogg for the audio streams. This is a free tool and, thus, a resource-limited one. That is why you will get a number of ads and contribution request screens every now and then – if you find them too annoying, you are invited to contribute with a small amount of money and move to the Plus version to get rid of all of those. In the meantime, you can download the free version and enjoy all the functionality that makes YouTube Song Downloader a great utility.
